Born Matthew James Hutchison in Springfield, Massachusetts. Growing up in the small town of Hampden, Massachusetts with two attentive, loving parents and two older brothers, M.J. had what may best be described as a care-free childhood. He displayed signs of interest in writing but remained primarily focused on other endeavors, namely Basketball. At University, after a short lived pursuit in broadcasting, he discovered a passion for literature during an Afro-American Lit. course where he was most notably influenced by James Baldwin’s Go Tell it on The Mountain and Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man.
The world is a possibility if only you’ll discover it.” Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man
M.J. graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BA in English and his focus on Literature and Writing. After graduating, he left the United States for the first time and has since spent time in England, France, Belgium, and Spain while spending longer periods living and working in Taiwan as well as Japan. Through his education and his travels M.J. has developed an intense interest in self-awareness and is working towards helping others learn more about themselves.
